Purchase your own Lime Kiln and Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland

The natural peace and tranquillity of your very own woodland located at the edge of the Lake District National Park

Lime Kiln Wood, being brought to the market by our Staveley office, is a 12.66 acre private and mature native woodland near the village of Lindale. The old Victorian limekiln hidden at its heart has ben carefully restored and stabilised by the current owners, and forms an integral piece of the area’s history.

Located in a beautiful Cumbrian countryside setting, this stunning block of amenity woodland is accessibly situated on an east-facing limestone escarpment that offers views of the Grange-Over-Sands countryside and across to Morecambe Bay.

Lime Kiln Wood is for Sale Freehold through the Staveley Office with a Guide Price of £120,000

Currently privately owned by a Trust, this delightful wood is designated as Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland (ASNW), comprising a variety of broadleaf species including Oak, Ash, Yew, Beech, Sycamore, Downy Birch and Hazel, and providing a variety of habitats for a wealth of flora and fauna, including bluebells and many woodland bird species. In recent years Lime Kiln Wood has been managed primarily for the purposes of conservation and quiet enjoyment.  The Lime Kiln itself with the traditional arch, was used during the Victorian age to process locally quarried limestone into lime for use by the local farming community.

Enjoying the great outdoors is a pursuit enjoyed by so many, and we are seeing more and more people wanting to own some land which provides a natural outdoor escape, so there is very strong demand for small amenity woodlands. Lime Kiln Wood is a perfect opportunity to fulfil the dream of managing your own woodland and caring for your own private piece of our lovely countryside.

We find that the purchasers are using and managing them for a variety of recreational, environmental and cultural purposes, although informal timber production can be important, for instance for firewood.

The size of the wood means it’s eligible for woodland management grants and it has excellent access for timber extraction.

Lime Kiln Wood is surrounded by dry-stone walls in generally good condition and has vehicle access directly from the Lindale Road. It can be viewed at any reasonable time provided the viewer is in possession of the Sale Particulars.
