Mark has 15 years of experience in all facets of rural property management, sales and lettings including:
Valuations
RICS registered valuer advising on the valuation of all types of rural property and assets.
Experience in valuations for taxation, matrimonial and secured lending purposes.
Estate Management & Landlord/Tenant
In depth experience in estate and property management across Cumbria and north Lancashire acting on behalf of several landed estates with mixed portfolio’s including land, farms, residential properties, quarries, sporting rights and commercial premises. Advising on all aspects of the Landlord/Tenant relationship including re-letting, rent reviews, liability for repairs, succession and end of tenancy negotiations.
Property Sales and Acquisitions
Dealing with all aspects of land and rural property sales and acquisitions, both on and off market.
In depth local and national market knowledge and the skills to effectively market and present your property to obtain maximum coverage and sale price.
Agribusiness and Environment Matters
Years of experience in advising on a diverse range of DEFRA funding schemes to farmers, landowners and common associations aided by an original BSc Hons degree in Environmental Land Management.
Compensation
Wide experience in negotiating and managing compensation claims on behalf of landowners and occupiers affected by water pipelines, electricity and gas mains.
Telecommunications
Advising on Code lease matters, lease renewals, rent reviews and general telecommunications mast agreements/compensation.
Education & Qualifications
- BSc Honours Degree in Environment & Land Management (UCLAN).
- Postgraduate Distinction in Surveying (College of Estate Management)
- Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
- RICS Registered Valuer
- RICS Qualified Assessor
- Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV)
Hobbies & Interests
- Appointed Trustee for the Eden Rivers Trust (https://www.edenriverstrust.org.uk/)
- Spending time on the family farm (dairy & sheep)
- Avid sporting fan with a particular interest in Liverpool fc (please don’t judge!!), rural pursuits and skiing
Background
Mark was brought up in the Eden Valley, where his parents and brother farm to this day having moved from Goosnargh in Lancashire many years ago. After a period with a rival land and estate agency firm gathering strategic external experience and knowledge Mark returns to H&H Land & Estates, where he began his career. Primarily based in the Staveley office covering South Lakes and North Lancashire Mark sits on our board of Directors.
My Happy Place
Spending time in the fields, or Lakeland Fells, with wife Becca, daughter Penelope and Duke our energetic 3-year-old Gordon Setter.
