Valuation
RICS Registered Valuer able to prepare RICS Global Valuation Standards (Red Book) Valuation Reports for various purposes, including capital taxation, secured lending, pre-purchase, dispute resolution and business planning.
Often instructed to act as Expert Witness, Independent Expert and Single Joint Expert for Court matters. Experienced in the preparation of valuation reports in line with the Part 25 Rules for court proceedings.

Development
Including advising on option agreements, promotion agreement, conditional contracts for sale, and other residential and commercial land development matters.

Utilities, Access and Compensation
Acting on behalf of a range of landowner and tenant clients who find themselves impacted by utility companies either installing new equipment on private land or taking access on to private land. Negotiating such access and compensation for losses suffered by the landowner/tenant.

Estate and Asset Management
Regularly acting for a national charity, and England’s second largest landowner, in relation to the management of their property portfolio, as well as acting for a range of landed estate clients in various estate management matters. Principal Agent in the North of England for one of the country’s largest housebuilders.

Landlord & Tenant   
Advice in relation to FBT and AHA tenancy agreements, rent reviews and succession matters. Dispute resolution of tenancy issues.

Sales &Lettings of Rural Property
Regularly involved in the sale and letting of an assortment of rural property, ranging from small country cottages to large farms and more complex development sites.

Telecommunications
Advising on Code Lease matters, lease renewals, rent reviews and general telecommunications mast agreements/compensation.

 

Education & Qualifications

  • MRICS - Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
  • FAAV - Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV).
  • Honours Degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management, Harper Adams University, graduating in 2016.
  • Northumbria & Cumbria Association of Agricultural Valuers Branch award winner in 2018. Winner of the Alistair Turnbull Prize.

 

Hobbies & Interests

Most rural pursuits but in particular walking in the countryside and shooting. Good coffee being essential.

 

Background

Robert is from a rural background, being brought up in Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales. Having spent much of his time growing up on friends’ farms, Robert decided that a career in land agency would be perfect and is now a fully qualified Rural Chartered Surveyor and Land Agent.
